our story starts with a boy listening to loona on his way to school at kalos high school. this boy is clemont, and he is joined by his sister bonnie who legally has to go everywhere with him because she killed a man. once they get to school they meet a boy named ash, who clemont is cheesed to meet. they also meet serena, who is (allegedly) straight, their gay teacher professor sycamore, diantha, and gary oak who then proceeds to yo mama ash. clemont's dad meyer shows up and sycamore falls over homosexually for him. another new student enters the school soon after, being calem, son of champion diantha and her ex wife malva. he says hello to the lgbt community and almost immediately befriends serena, developing a love at first sight crush on her. ash drinks an entire bottle of pepsi at once and doesn't die, and serena is upset that he is embarrassing her in front of her new friend. meanwhile, diantha plots to finally get rid of her brothers evil malewife once and for all by hitting him with her car, but is interrupted by said brother needing picked up as he cannot drive due to being gay. bonnie swears she is going to do something violent. trevor, shauna and tierno are hosting a party and have invited the class. unknown to each other, gary and clemont are both waiting on the side to invite ash to attend the party with them, when koharu asks ash if he will go to the party with her since he's the only person there she doesn't hate. professor sycamore and diantha meet lysandre only to find that his beard has been stolen. the incident makes lysandre decide he's going to commit war crimes to avenge his beloved beard. bryony of team flare hears about the party being planned and decides to crash it with violent intent.
meanwhile, calem is on a gogoat, in an attempt to impress serena. he asks her to go to the party with him, with her accepting and telling him he's a good friend.
in their collective sadness from love losing, gary and clemont run into each other, deciding to attend with each other since they both have no one to go with, despite the fact they're now running late. once they arrive tierno comments that love wins ig! the party is going well until bryony and gumi vocaloid attack, with koharu exclaiming she can finally be violent while holding a rock in her hand. the two villains challenge ash and koharu to a game of competitive among us, with ash and koharu winning.

lysandre asks to borrow the weapon from his great great great great great great great great great uncle who says no, so he leaves, planning to steal the weapon to use it anyway. when he returns to the team flare hq he finds that xerosic has finally returned from his honeymoon with his husband charon. he announces his plans to fucking blow up kalos and all of the scientists are like ok. the girls are happy this gives them an excuse to bully teenagers. the school are electing a student council representative from the class, of which the assembly where the candidates would give their speeches is interrupted by a team flare attack, with two mysterious heroes who are definitely not the current student council presidents, dexio and sina appearing to help defeat them. after the event diantha tells sycamore that lysandre is the leader of team flare, which leaves him in denial and disbelief. when he confronts lysandre regarding the topic he denies it. serena and calem decide to go attempt to gather evidence for themselves, and are ultimately successful. once team flare are about to execute their plan, sycamore calls upon lysandre's great great great great great uncle, who has him banished to the galar dimension, leading into the start of season 1.5.
